Metal Chassis Protection

The importance of a protecting chassis on your static home or caravan

Park Homes are available in a range of shapes and sizes but they all have one thing in common and that is they are built on a chassis. Protecting your holiday home or caravan’s chassis is extremely important especially if it is sited in a coastal position or close to a river estuary.

It is important to choose the right protection for the chassis for your static caravan or lodge, particularly if it’s sited on or near the coast or an estuary. The chassis is one of the most important parts of your static caravan or lodge providing a stable base for your home. If your chassis fails the structural integrity of the home will suffer and can cause leaks or become dangerous.

Painting your chassis with a zinc paint such as Zinga will reduce the potential of rust and corrosion from sea salt or in the event of flooding. Zinga will also increase the lifespan of your holiday caravan as Zinga (Zinger) offer greater protection than hot dipped galvanising.

Some insurance companies are taking into account the benefits of protecting your chassis with zinc or good quality paints such as Noxyde. Static homes sited near the sea without a galvanised chassis or a chassis protected with high performance paints are more likely to deteriorate quicker and this general “wear and tear” may not be covered by your insurance policy. Many people who fail to maintain their chassis can be faced with an expensive repair bill in years to come, or worse still having to replace their lodge or caravan.
