Network Rail require long term corrosion protection for their assets such as bridges and gantries. However, to minimise disruption to the train service in certain locations, only short-term access or possession can be permitted. These permitted closures frequently fall during the night to minimise disruption. The M34 specification has been created to meet this particular requirement.
Promain have a range of M34 approved products from a number of internationally known manufacturers such as PPG, International, Hempel, Jotun and Sherwin-Williams (formerly Leighs Paints).
The M34 preparation and paint specification consists of a two-coat painting system. The application of both coats of paint are suitable for application at low temperatures. The hardeners are therefore formulated to activate at low temperatures. This ability to apply the paint at in cold temperatures means that essential maintenance contracts can be carried out all year round. Monitoring the Relative Humidity is essential, Precipitation and Frost must be avoided during application.
Promain have been trained by the manufacturers to advise on the most suitable paint coatings to meet Network Rail M34 specifications. Promain are an independent coating supplier for more than 30 paint manufacturers. We are able to offer the correct solution in a wide range of RAL and BS4800 colours often at short notice.
